As some of you might be aware our 13 strong team took part in the Race to the Stones ultra marathon on 19th and 20th July, along the Chilterns Ridgeway, the oldest path in Britain, on what was meant to be the hottest weekend of the year!
Our team hiked a combined total of 1,300km over two days, walking for 27 hours over the weekend. The team endured wind, rain, giant hail stones and blistering sun on their trek from Chinnor to the finish line at the 3,000 year old stone circle at Avebury.
The gruelling challenge left the team with a host of injuries including an army of blisters and clicking hips but despite this, the determined team still managed to raise nearly £3000 to support Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service in raising £5m to build Berkshire’s first children’s hospice.
Although this is a fantastic achievement and will certainly help towards the build of the children’s hospice we would love to try and raise that extra bit more to help Fiona and John build the hospice their beloved son Alexander deserved for other terminally ill children…
“A family will live with the end-of-life experience of their child for the rest of their lives. It is so important that everything is done to help the family at this time."
Fiona Devine (Alexander’s Mummy)
